Dam about to break

Associated Press

is my reference for these comments -
As usual the last two paragraphs of a long article carry the real information. It leads with
"The U.S. military is bracing for a major scandal over the alleged slaying of Iraqi civilians by Marines in Haditha"

then some filler and finally

"Some analysts, however, say the killings of civilians also reflect frustration among young troops fighting a difficult war with no end in sight. They say these young fighters have been thrust into an alien culture for repeated tours in a war whose strategy many of them do not understand. "What we're seeing more of now, and these incidents will increase monthly, is the end result of fuzzy, imprecise national direction combined with situational ethics at the highest levels of this government," said retired Air Force Col. Mike Turner, a former planner at the Joint Chiefs of Staff."

To me this is a clear analysis. The real bottom line is that with no clear rules of engagement and a living clearly with a pack of lies from top to bottom these soldiers crossed over the fuzzy line. The real difference between this and thousands of over incidence is that the relative of some one high up in the Iraqi interim government was killed among the innocents and it was video taped. Time magazine got the video and sat on it, but other Arab news networks were not so reticent. The thing about telling the truth is that you don't have to remember the lies you told later. Lets get me get this straight Mr. Rumsfeld, Mr. Chenney ... Why are we in Iraq, again? Was that three year old they shot an Al-Qaeda terrorist? In an impossible situation, impossible things can happen. This is not an isolated incident and these Marines are not from my America. You can be a conservative and still not go along with this administration. Complicity with their crimes is nothing more than cowardice and treason to our great country.
