Palin and the Alaska Independence Party

True American?

from:
The Guardian

Over at samefacts.com, Mark Kleiman appears to have nailed down the AIP membership story. Current party chair Lynette Clark says:

Yes, Governor Palin was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party. She joined the Party and attended the AIP Statewide Convention held in Wasilla in 1994, along with her husband, Todd. In 1996 she changed her registration to Republican and Todd re-registered as undeclared, a registration he holds today.

Now we have a situation where one of three people is lying. Clark is lying or Palin is lying to the McCain team or the McCain team knows the truth and is lying. Of the three, Clark would seem to have the least motivation to speak with forked tongue.

For backup read this in The Dailykos
Also, tracking some of this stuff in DIGG

HER words from her speech: "While I was at it, I got rid of a few things in the governor's office that I didn't believe our citizens should have to pay for. That luxury jet was over the top. I put it on eBay"

is a whole lot different than the FACTS:

"After going unsold for months, the jet was put into the hands of Turbo North Aviation, an Anchorage aircraft broker, which put an asking price of $2.45 million on the nearly $2.7 million jet. It quickly sold to Alaska businessman Larry Reynolds for $2.1 million ($31,000 of which went to Turbo Aviation). Today the Westwind II jet spends its days ushering wealthy hunters around Alaska and Russia."

It goes to credibility, of which she is devoid.

Here she is back pedaling but still appeasing this whack job constituency

She said in her speech she "put it on eBay." She didn't say she sold it there. You even noted yourself it was there and went unsold. Lots of times things don't sell on eBay. It doesn't mean they weren't on eBay. The point is it did get sold and Alaskans no longer a paying to keep it. That's more than our federal government would do for us. Your lack of understanding is astounding. Check your facts and make sure you know what the point is before you show your ignorance. Also the Alaska Independence Party is the fourth largest in the country they're not national. She wouldn't get elected nationally if not in a national party, unfortunately. And if Alaskans are such whack jobs why is it that they have more personal freedoms and liberties than most countries in the world. They hold true to the founding fathers beliefs better than the original 13 states that first declared their independence in 1776. If you think that anyone who values their individual rights over government, or their liberty over security is a whack job, remember they were once called patriots. Thousands of them died for your right to be an ill-informed idiot with a keyboard. If it goes to credibility your statements are made with facts that support the opposite of your glaring opinion. Your opinions are not fact. She has been nothing but honest. And to take a persons statement of known fact and apply your ignorant assumptions to it goes to your credibility, your startling lack there of. It is nice to see you have accurate facts but your application of said facts are atrociously off mark. Make sure you understand what you are talking about before you spew assumptions as facts.
